A Gimmick Parade for the Celebration of St. Ignatius Day

By: Sharrie Mae M. Espiritu

The end of July marks the Ignatian Day Celebration. Activities and programs are prepared by the school for the students.

The celebration started with a “Gimmick Parade.”

It is called a “Gimmick Parade” because of the different gimmicks each year level had. Each year level (High School and College) competed for the “Crowd Drawer Competition”. They made different noises to call the attention of the crowd.

Each class year level’s attire also varied. Some wore their batch t-shirts. Others wore gown and colorful outfits. The “Gimmick Parade” started at 8:00 in the morning. The parade routed from ATM Covered Court to Brgy. Osmeña, San Jose, Tiza, Upper Libis, Inclined Road, Lower Libis, Balala and back to LCC. At the front of the line was a motorcade followed by LCC Colors, LCC Drum and Lyre Corps, students of LCC by year level, then the LCC Diner, Hotel Maya, ICCC, parents and lastly the LCC faculty and staff.

The parade ended at about 9:30. Everyone gathered at the LCC Quadrangle to proceed to other activities. It was a very tiring day yet Loyolans were once more become united to show their love and dedication for the feast day of St. Ignatius, the school’s patron saint.
